When originally determining whether or not Microneedling was the right fit for our clients we focused on collagen research and looked at results we had seen personally. The Technology Behind Microneedling
At Crave Aesthetics we utilize our Microneedling Pen to create tiny micro-wounds in the skin via tiny sterile needles. Your body instantly into repair mode to heal these wounds. This process produces collagen which decreases as we age. Collagen is what keeps our skin tight and toned. By activating our body’s repair system the newly formed collagen helps reduce the look of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and aging.
Your service starts with a double cleanse. Then we apply numbing cream which sits on your skin for 20-30. After this timeframe we remove the numbing cream and put hyaluronic acid on the section of your face we are treating. Before turning on the machine we choose the depth level of our pen. We start with a low needle depth and ask each client what their pain level is. If it is very tolerable the needle depth will be modified to be placed slightly deeper into the skin. We change these depths based on different sections of your skin and assess as we go along. Our goal is to get the best results possible. Every clients tolerance is different; therefore depth level will determine results. Needle depth also depends on the visible strength of the clients skin and sensitivity level.
When we turn on the machine it vibrates and we begin creating micro-wounds to the skin. We Microneedle your skin in sections, completing three sessions on the skin (vertically, horizontally, circular). We want to provide your skin with the most benefit; therefore, we need to make sure every surface area of your face has been properly treated. Your skin will look red for the rest of the day and typically subsides by the next day.
This is why we love Microneedling. It is a very effective treatment with low downtime.
When Can You See Results
When can you see the results?
Microneedling requires a series of treatments to get to your desired result. You will start to see results a month after each treatment. By the 3rd and 4th treatment you will see the amazing benefits we listed above. We usually say a series 3-4 every 5-6 weeks; then you can maintain with a 1 to 3 a year depending on may factors such as aging. Some clients; do however, need more then the standard amount based on acne scarring and other skin issues.
For those with active acne or skin conditions caused by stress, the gut and hormones we have an awesome Holistic Acne Program. In this program we address these issues first and provide you with skincare treatments to start clearing your skin before performing microneedling. In some cases you will need to work with your health care provider or natural practicioner as we are not able to give medical advice. We will help you come up with a plan.

Does Microneedling Hurt?
Our owner Jessica at Crave Aesthetics researched Microneedling for a long time before introducing it. She is focued on providing the most natural services and using products and devices that are safe for her clients and herself. She determined Mcroneedling would be one of the best services for her clients and herself. She tested her new pen on herself first to understand what it felt like. From her experience and experience working with clients for the last few years she has found that Microneedling is very tolerable.
Many people are afraid it will hurt. The awesome thing about Microneedling is we can adjust the depth level to provide results and more comfort. The cheek and chin has been proven to not be painful even at the higher depths. The forehead, bridge of nose and upper lip; however, are alot more tender. We typically use a 0.75mm-1mm depth on these delicate areas and a 1.5mm-2mm depth on the chin and cheek area. The maximum needle depth of our Microneedling Pen is 2mm.
Every client heals differently, but in our experience 95% of clients redness is gone by the next day. Those who have red hair or are a bit more of a sensitive skin type may take a few days for the redness to dissipate. This is the process and is totally normal. Microneedling is very well tolerated for most skin types. Each client is assessed individually before starting this service to make sure they are a candidate. This is based on skin and medical history. If we feel it is unsafe to do so or more healing is needed first we discuss this together.
After your service we apply 100% Natural Succulent Cell Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Boost Serum to your skin. Hyaluronic Acid is an amazing hydrator that is soothing for the skin, We also provide you with this serum to take home and apply for the next few days. if the redness and inflammation has gone down you can start a skincare routine containing gentle ingredients. This will be discussed at your appointment.
